Abstract

Study of risk factors for diarrhea in children under 5 years of age, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. with the objective To study risk factors for diarrhea in children under 5 years of age and the relationship between risk factors for diarrhea in children under 5 years of age by using purposive sampling from every sub-district. (except Subdistrict in the city) which was divided into 2 groups: the study group (Case) consisting of children under 5 years of age who were all sick with diarrhea, a total of 103 people, and the control group (Controls) of children under 5 years of age. who are not sick with diarrhea By means of enumerating samples The population characteristics are similar to the study group, with the proportion of study group: control group being equal to 1:1. The total sample size was 254 people.

Introduction

Background and importance of the problem Diarrhea is a contagious disease that requires epidemiological surveillance, which is a problem in Thailand. From the epidemiological surveillance data from 1990(2533) - 1995(2538), there is an upward trend with the morbidity rate equal to 1,284.66, 1,398.67, 1,412.99, 1,488.51, 1,690.67 and 1,686.05 per 100,000 population, respectively. In Nakhon Ratchasima Province from 1990(2533) - 1996(2539), the morbidity rate of diarrhea was close to the morbidity rate of the whole country, especially in 1991(2534), 1992(2535) and 1993(2536), the morbidity rate of diarrhea in Nakhon Ratchasima Province was higher than the morbidity rate of the whole country. For Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, from 1990(2533) to 1996(2539), the incidence rate of diarrhea was 670.16, 725.49, 800.81, 834.96, 684.36, 580.87 and 660.61 per 100,000 population, respectively, which was lower than the incidence rate of the whole of Thailand and Nakhon Ratchasima Province!
